Overview
Established in 1989, Yuan Ze University (YZU) is a relatively young institution that has rapidly gained national recognition for its excellence in teaching, research, and administration. Within a short period, YZU has been acknowledged as a model for newly emerging universities in Taiwan, becoming the first and only university to receive the National Quality Award in 2003. The university has also received multiple distinctions from Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, including awards under the Teaching Excellence Project and the Aim for the Top University and Elite Research Center Development Project, positioning YZU among Taiwan’s top universities.
Currently, Yuan Ze University consists of five colleges: Engineering; Informatics; Management; Humanities and Social Sciences; and Electrical and Communications Engineering. The university is home to over 9,000 students, with a balanced proportion between undergraduate and graduate programs. YZU places strong emphasis on research development, particularly through key research centers such as the Fuel Cell Center and the Communications Research Center, which integrate resources across engineering disciplines to enhance national research capacity.
