Overview

VSB, known as Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO), is one of the oldest and most distinguished technical universities in Central Europe, with over 175 years of tradition in higher education and research. Located in Ostrava, Czech Republic, the university historically began as a mining academy and has since evolved into a modern polytechnic institution that fuses engineering, economics, natural sciences, safety, and technology into forward-looking study programs. It emphasizes solving real-world challenges through innovation and applied knowledge, shaped by deep partnerships with industry and global academic communities.

Academic Calendars

The academic year at VSB-TUO is divided into two semesters:

Summer Semester:

  3. Semester End: Late August - Early September

Winter Semester:

  1. Nomination and Application Deadline: April - June

  2. Semester Start: Early September

  3. Semester End: Late December - Early January

Orientation for international students is conducted a week before each semester, covering essential topics such as course registration, cultural adaptation, and campus facilities.
