Overview

University of Santo Tomas (UST) is a private, Pontifical and Catholic university located in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines. Founded in 1611, it is the oldest existing university in Asia and one of the largest Catholic universities in the world, with a student population consistently over 40,000. UST was established by Miguel de Benavides, a Spanish archbishop, and has evolved from a seminary-college into a major institution of higher learning with deep historical and cultural significance. 

UST offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in fields such as arts and humanities, sciences, engineering, business, health sciences, law, and theology. It combines academic excellence with Catholic values, research, and community engagement, making it a central contributor to education in the Philippines and beyond.

The academic year at University of Santo Tomas is divided into two semesters:

Spring Semester:

3. Semester End: Late December - Early January

Orientation for international students is conducted a week before each semester, covering essential topics such as course registration, cultural adaptation, and campus facilities.
