Jakarta, April 16, 2025 – As a part of introducing international culture, International Office of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (AJCUI) held a new event called “Atma Jaya Film Festival”. The festival was designed not only as a movie screening event, but as a space for cultural exchange, conversation, and international engagement with Embassies. Held on March 16th, the event takes place at the Student Hub of Atma Jaya Semanggi Campus, starting at 15.00. In this very first Atma Jaya Film Festival, AJCUI collabed with Embassy of Spain, with Sara Gonzales as Cultural Manager of Embassy of Spain as the representative of embassy introducing Spain to students.
On the day, students had the opportunity to enjoy the heartwarming Spanish film "Campeones" (2018) accompanied with free popcorn and soda for them to consume. The film, which tells the inspiring story of a basketball coach assigned to a team of players with intellectual disabilities, was met with great enthusiasm. Students shared that they found the film both moving and humorous, and left the screening feeling uplifted, inspired, and grateful for the unique cultural window it provided. Embassy of Spain expressed their happiness and gratitude with the opportunity for the event, and they would love to run it again when given chance. As there were 29 students joining the event and showed interest, AJCUI believed that they will continue this program once every month with new embassies coming along with new film open for free. (RBA)
