Overview

Saint Mary’s University (SMU) is a private Catholic university located in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines, established in June 1928 by the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CICM) as a response to the need for Christian education in the region. It began as an elementary school and gradually expanded its offerings, eventually developing into a full university with a wide array of academic programs across arts, sciences, education, engineering, health sciences, and professional fields. 


Over the decades, SMU has earned various recognitions and accreditations, including PAASCU accreditations, ISO certification, and rankings in innovation frameworks.  Saint Mary’s University has been designated as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education and a Center of Development in fields like information technology and civil engineering, affirming its commitment to educational quality and community development.

The academic year at Saint Mary’s University is divided into two semesters:

Spring Semester:

Fall Semester:

  1. Nomination and Application Deadline: April - June

  2. Semester Start: Early September

  3. Semester End: Late December - Early January

Orientation for international students is conducted a week before each semester, covering essential topics such as course registration, cultural adaptation, and campus facilities.
