Book synopsis
The Atma Jaya Symposium on
Urban Health (AJSUH) 2025, themed “Integrating Geriatric, Neurological,
Metabolic, Mental Health, and Tropical Infection Care in Urban Populations,”
reflects the pressing need for interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing the
complex health challenges of rapidly urbanizing societies. As urban populations
grow and age, health systems are increasingly burdened by non-communicable
diseases, neurodegenerative disorders, mental health issues, and persistent
infectious threats. This symposium serves as a platform to explore innovative,
evidence-based approaches that bridge clinical practice, biomedical research,
and public health policy toward a unified vision of sustainable urban health.
The two-day symposium
brings together experts and emerging scholars from diverse disciplines,
including geriatric medicine, neurology, endocrinology, psychiatry, infectious
diseases, and molecular biology. Through keynote lectures, oral presentations,
and interactive discussions, participants will examine the biological,
environmental, and social determinants that shape health outcomes in urban
settings. The scientific sessions emphasize translational insights—linking
molecular discoveries and clinical interventions to community-based strategies
and digital innovations that improve access and equity in care delivery.
AJSUH 2025 highlights key
intersections among metabolic, mental, and infectious diseases, as well as the
role of aging and neurocognitive health in urban resilience. Topics span from
microbiome–diet interactions and dementia prevention to air pollution, mental
well-being, and metabolic risk among urban workers. The symposium also
foregrounds the role of technology, community engagement, and culturally
responsive care models in building integrated health systems for older and
vulnerable populations.
Ultimately, AJSUH 2025 embodies Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia’s ongoing commitment to advancing research and education that promote healthy, inclusive, and sustainable cities. By fostering dialogue among scientists, clinicians, policymakers, and educators, the symposium aspires to inspire collaborative action—transforming the challenges of urbanization into opportunities for innovation and collective well-being.
