Passage to ASEAN: AJCUI Students Explore Culture, Language, and Community at Universiti Sains Malaysia

10/27/2025 12:00:00 AM

Malaysia, 27-31 October 2025 – The Faculty of Education and Languages at AJCUI continued its global learning initiatives through a Passage to ASEAN (P2A) program hosted by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Over five days, students participated in a comprehensive cultural, linguistic, and academic immersion experience that enriched their regional understanding. The program opened with a welcoming ceremony featuring remarks by Prof. Dr. Hazri Jamil, Dean of the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation (SoLLaT). Students were introduced to USM’s academic environment before attending a guest lecture delivered by an AJCUI lecturer, marking a meaningful exchange of knowledge between the two institutions.

Throughout the week, students joined a variety of cultural workshops—such as Chinese calligraphy, Malay language basics, and batik painting—that deepened their appreciation of Malaysia’s multicultural identity. A full-day heritage tour in George Town allowed students to explore historical landmarks, engage in group discussions, and collaborate with USM buddies in preparing cultural presentations. The closing ceremony on 31 October brought the program to an inspiring finish, with certificate presentations and reflections on learning outcomes. The experience not only enhanced linguistic and cultural competence but also strengthened the academic bonds between AJCUI and USM. (RBA)
