Overview

National United University (NUU) is a public university in Miaoli City, Taiwan, established in 1972 with a mission to provide quality higher education and cultivate skilled professionals across diverse disciplines. It offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs spanning engineering science, electrical engineering and computer science, management, humanities and social sciences, Hakka studies, and design. The university has two campuses, which is Erping Shan and Bajia, strategically located close to industrial and metropolitan centres, making it convenient for both study and industry collaboration. 


NUU is recognized for its contributions to teaching excellence and research, receiving consecutive government awards (including Taiwan’s Ministry of Education Teaching Excellence Project) and notable positions in global and national rankings. With over 7,000 students and a strong alumni network, NUU fosters international exchange and cooperation with over 160 partner institutions worldwide, supporting academic mobility and global learning opportunities.

The academic year at National United University is divided into two semesters:

Spring Semester:

  3. Semester End: Late June - Early July

Fall Semester:

  1. Nomination and Application Deadline: April - June

  2. Semester Start: Early September

  3. Semester End: Late December - Early January

Orientation for international students is conducted a week before each semester, covering essential topics such as course registration, cultural adaptation, and campus facilities.
