Jakarta, June 13, 2025 – Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia proudly hosted the International Students Orientation 2025 for new recipients of the international students from Republic Democratic of Timor-Leste. Held at the Semanggi Campus, the event served as a warm introduction for students embarking on their academic journey in Indonesia. The orientation was attended by university leaders and distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. dr. Yuda Turana, Sp.S(K) (Rector of AJCUI), Mr. Jaime Andre Simoes, Education Attaché of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Jakarta, as well as representatives from AJCUI’s International Office, Scholarship Office, Language Center (PPB), and student mentors.
The program featured opening remarks from the Head of the International Office, followed by welcome speeches, academic briefings, and scholarship guidance from the Language Center (PPB) and the Scholarship Office. Students also received an overview of key university expectations and cultural orientation through a “Do’s and Don’ts” session. Adding a personal touch, current Timor-Leste students from previous cohorts shared their experiences, and one new student reflected on their traditional send-off before arriving in Jakarta. The event closed on a warm and welcoming note, with refreshments and informal interaction among guests, staff, and students—marking the beginning of a meaningful academic journey together. This orientation reflects AJCUI’s commitment to global education, cross-cultural friendship, and inclusive academic opportunity. The university is proud to welcome Timor-Leste students as part of its growing international family. (RBA)
