Promoting Indonesian Higher Education: AJCUI’s Academic Mission to Timor-Leste

Timor-Leste, 6–12 November 2025 — Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (AJCUI) conducted an official academic visit to Dili, Timor-Leste, as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening international cooperation, promoting Indonesian higher education, and expanding access to postgraduate opportunities in the ASEAN region. The visit coincided with the Indonesian Education Expo hosted at the Indonesian Cultural Center (PBI), Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Dili, and involved a series of academic, promotional, and partnership-building activities. Beyond recruitment activities, the visit emphasized academic exchange and collaboration with partner institutions. AJCUI faculty members delivered guest lectures at UNDIL, Universidade Católica Timorense (UCT), and UNITAL, engaging students in discussions on mental health, health law, and interdisciplinary perspectives in healthcare and legal studies. These sessions were met with strong enthusiasm and active participation, highlighting shared academic interests and the relevance of cross-border knowledge exchange. The delegation also held strategic discussions with ISFIT, focusing on future cooperation, including staff internship programs, postgraduate study opportunities for ISFIT lecturers, and academic journal development. In addition, AJCUI strengthened alumni relations through several gatherings with Timor-Leste alumni from the Faculties of Law and Psychology, creating valuable spaces for reflection, networking, and shared institutional pride.
