Jakarta, March 19–21, 2025 – Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (AJCUI), through its Faculty of Law, successfully hosted a Joint Short Program with Columbia Law School’s Human Rights Institute (HRI), USA. The program, titled “Training and Capacity Building for Lecturers and Students on the Enforcement of Human Rights Based on International Law,” brought together students and faculty members from both institutions for an intensive three-day collaboration. Held from March 19 to 21, 2025, the program aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of international human rights frameworks, with a focus on trial monitoring and legal accountability. The visit also marked the growing relationship between AJCUI and the Columbia Law School’s TrialWatch Clinical Network, led by the HRI.
The joint sessions, held at AJCUI’s Semanggi Campus, included lectures, hands-on training, and collaborative activities. On March 20, participants received an introduction to the TrialWatch Clinical Network, followed by a general training on human rights trial monitoring. Core clinic students also joined a focused session on legal observation and reporting. The program concluded on March 21 with a reflection meeting and joint lunch, allowing both institutions to review outcomes and strengthen academic ties. This initiative reflects AJCUI’s ongoing commitment to global legal education and meaningful collaboration with Columbia Law School in advancing justice and human rights. (RBA)
