Narcotics and addictive substance is in one side of the scale a positive effect on humanity. But is on the other hand very harmful and even deadly. Because of its hazardous effect, its abuse and activities of production, sales and trafficking is prohibited by the government of Indonesia.

In the effort eliminating one of the worst forms of child labor, thus being in the production, sales, and trafficking of drugs, a mapping of children involved should be done in as much as there is little data from studies on children in such labor and condition.

The mapping result will serve as a basis to design future intervention and support services to withdrawn children involved in the drugs trafficking in West and Central Jakarta.

The primary objectives of this study are to:

  1. Generate quantitative data on children information on personal identification such as sex and age, family background, education background, daily activities, involvement on drugs abuse and trading and any other factors that lead them to the negative aspects of drugs abuse.
  2. Generate qualitative data on children who admit their involvement on sale, production and trafficking of drugs to get more details picture on the reasons and possibilities intervention to withdraw them.
  3. Generate qualitative data on families and local leaders to get their view on the CDT issues in their areas and how they can involve overcoming the issue.
  4. Assess the needs of children and community in terms of providing alternative intervention and support services to withdraw children from their involvement in drugs trafficking.
  5. Propose recommendations on actions for intervention and support services.

Children who are the subjects and target of this study are those in the age of 18 and younger, and are or have been involved with drugs. The target of this study is a group of 200 children and 40 adults (men and women) including family members or community (including local leaders) in the location where these children live. The children being discussed here are children who are active users of drugs, who are also at large in the involvement of production, sales, and trafficking drugs.

The method used in this research was quantitative and qualitative data. There were several sequences taken prior to data analysis to ensure the validity, so that the data would be free of errors and inconsistency. The sequences include: pre-coding, coding, and data cleaning.
