Jakarta, the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia, is divided into six (6) regions: Kepulauan Seribu, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, South Jakarta, West Jakarta and East Jakarta. Based on data gathered in the year 2010, the total number of residents living in Jakarta is approximately 10 million (4,8 million males; 4,7 million females). A majority of the total number of residents live in East Jakarta (28,05%) and West Jakarta (23,76%). There is a total of 2.508.869 households in Jakarta (East Jakarta 27,53% and West Jakarta 24,25%).  Despite this, the region with the highest density is Central Jakarta and West Jakarta (see Table 1.1.1.).  Table 1.1.2 shows that in the year 2011, the number of poor residents living in the special capital region (DKI) Jakarta amounts to more than 363.000
