Pursuing my study in the Hospitality Study Program at Unika Atma Jaya is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. In the beginning when I was still in senior high school, I was not sure about what major to take, but given my passion for travelling, I decided to study in the Hospitality Study Program. People told me that the knowledge I gained during my study would less likely be useful when I started working. However, this was 180 degrees different. Nearly all the lessons during my study were useful when I started working, and in particular, the internship program in this study program was the one helping me to decide what career I wanted to pursue further. Thanks to this internship program, as well as all the theories and practicum experience, I could easily land a job that suited my passion.

I was part of the second batch of Hospitality graduates of Unika Atma Jaya. During my time as a student, I found the lecturers to be very supportive and friendly with their students. The lecturers, as well as the staff, strived to provide high-quality education to us, cultivate a conducive learning culture and prepare us to become a better individual upon our graduation. I was able to understand all the details and knowledge that I needed in hospitality industry, business planning, or even statistical analysis. This knowledge eventually helped me to become more competitive when I had to find a job after graduating from university.

The Hospitality Study Program has piqued my interest from the start because it is in line with my dream job. To be honest, I was initially rather baffled when I had to deal with lessons like politics, anthropology, sociology, and so on. However, it turns out that all of these lessons are actually necessary to support our knowledge in the hospitality industry. The study program is also equipped with top-notch facilities, such as simulation labs complete with the necessary tools and equipment, Le Café as a practicum venue for our management skills, product innovation, marketing, and service. Not only that, during my time as a student, I was involved in many interesting activities, such as learning from professional chefs and wine experts, learning about table manners in actual hotels, conducting research in NTT, and many more. Yet, one of the most memorable to me was when we had to prepare a gala dinner where we had to prepare all the events, programming teams service team, F&B team, and so on—which really embodied the soul of how it really feels to work in hospitality industry. Besides that, we often had the opportunity to learn about the current trends in hospitality from various seminars as well as the internship program, which allowed me to explore cool places that could be my references when I had to look for a job upon my graduation. Last but not least, this study program indeed has qualified lecturers with their profound expertise, not to mention the supervisor specialist for the hospitality labs Dare yourself to become something and believe in yourself. So, do not hesitate! I was once a student who had to study and work at the same time, yet all my lecturers supported me wholeheartedly to graduate with flying colors. Dare yourself to become something and believe in yourself.

The Hospitality Study Program has been one unforgettable experience to me personally—from all the lecturers who are highly professional and supportive to the exciting practicum experience. Furthermore, the curriculum that I think is relevant to what I need in the future. I feel that I am equipped with all the things I need to become more professional and competitive in the workplace, and this was especially true when I had my internship in the 7th semester. I felt really confident compared to other intern students, thanks to the management skills that I got during my study.

I was glad to have the chance to study at the Hospitality Study Program of Unika Atma Jaya. There were so many things that I was previously unaware of about hospitality, particularly how to develop hospitality business from a managerial perspective. Moreover, I originally came from Flores, where there are actually so many potential tourism destinations, motivating me to apply the knowledge that I garnered in my study to develop the tourism in my hometown.

As a student from Eastern Indonesia, I was grateful to have the opportunity to study more about hospitality in the Hospitality Study Program at Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, Jakarta. As a student here, I was able to enhance my soft skills, which helped me to compete and adapt well to the hospitality industry where I will work. I attested to the significant role and support of the lecturers and staff in this study program in providing guidance and directions for me whenever I encountered some obstacles in my study.

To me, this department is simply my second home, a study program that has nurtured my passion up to the point where I currently have established my own business. The lecturers are also highly professional and qualified in their respective disciplines. Throughout my study, I rarely find the learning materials tedious because I personally have a penchant for hospitality, making me constantly engaged in the lessons. The 6-month internship program also given me a chance to learn a lot about the real workplace, allowing me to get hired easily when I was looking for a job. Not only that, in addition to the theoretical knowledge that I garnered, I had the opportunity to connect with various hospitality industry stakeholders, particularly in the F&B industries. All in all, as long as you have a deep interest in hospitality, this study program is going to support you from your academic life as a student to the time where you eventually enter the workplace.
