KUNJUNGAN PROF. DARWIS KHUDORI KE FIABIKOM UNIKA ATMA JAYA

Pada hari Jumat, 02 November 2023, Fakultas Ilmu Administrasi Bisnis dan Ilmu Komunikasi (FIABIKOM) Unika Atma Jaya menerima kunjungan dari Prof. Darwis Khudori dari Le Havre University, Perancis, yang telah menjadi mitra FIABIKOM Unika Atma Jaya sejak beberapa tahun terakhir. Kunjungan kali ini, disamping untuk melihat perkembangan kerjasama yang telah terjalin, juga untuk menjajaki kerjasama lebih lanjut di masa mendatang.

 

Pak Darwis Khudori yang saat ini menjabat sebagai Director of Master’s Degree in Exchanges with Asia, at the Faculty of International Affairs of the university, Le Havre University ingin mengirimkan mahasiswanya untuk belajar selama 1 semester di program Magister Administrasi Bisnis (MAB) Unika Atma Jaya. Terkait dengan tawaran ini, MAB menyatakan siap untuk menjalin kerjasama. Setidaknya mulai tahun 2024 mendatang, MAB Unika Atma Jaya akan menjadi salah satu pilihan yang bisa diambil oleh mahasiswa Le Havre University, jika hendak belajar tentang Asia dan Indonesia. Diharapkan pada tahun 2025 sudah ada mahasiswa Perancis yang juga kuliah di Unika Atma Jaya lewat program ini.

Darwis Khudori is "informally" writer (poems, short stories, novels, essays), “formally” graduated as architect (Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia), planner (Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam, Netherlands) and historian (doctorate from the Université Paris IV-Sorbonne), specialised in History of Contemporary Arab and Muslim World, with a doctoral thesis entitled « De la création française au développement égyptien. Transformations architecturales et sociales d’une ville du Monde musulman, le cas d’Ismaïlia, Egypte (1862-1993) ».

 

As socially engaged architect, he participated in the advocacy and development of Kampung Code (to be pronounced Tchoday), a slum area on the Code riverbank of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from 1980 to 1986 (Aga Khan Award for Architecture 1992). He was also the co-architect of a sisters’ convent Bunda Pemersatu (Unifying Mother), a monastery complex of the Catholic Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance (O.C.S.O.) in Gedono, Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia (Indonesian Architect Association Award 1991).

 

Professor in Oriental Studies at the Université Le Havre Normandie, he is also Director of Master’s Degree in Exchanges with Asia, at the Faculty of International Affairs of the university. Outside university, he is initiator and co-ordinator of Bandung Spirit Network of scholars and activists of social and solidarity movements for global future inspired by the spirit of Asian-African Conference held in Bandung, Indonesia, in 1955.

 

His most recent publication is a collective work of which he is the editor: BANDUNG LEGACY AND GLOBAL FUTURE: New Insights and Emerging Forces, New Delhi, Aakar Book, 2018, 16cm x 23.5cm, 304p. ISBN 978-93-5002-549-9 (Pb)
