Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia Welcomed Ambassadors of Poland and Croatia to Discuss about Indonesia's Future

Jakarta, June 10th, 2023 - Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (AJCUI) held an international seminar to discuss about Indonesia's strength in the international scope on Friday (2/6). The seminar is the opener of AJCUI's series of events in their 63rd Dies Natalis on the same day. AJCUI believes that the discussion will bring to the light the perspectives from Indonesia's friendly nations and the government, especially as Indonesia is trusted with the ASEAN 2023 Chairmanship.

"This discussion is also to celebrate and participate in the discussion of the chairmanship of ASEAN this year. It is an ambitious project to lead the region to the greater height" said the Rector of AJCUI, Dr. Agustinus Prasetyantoko, in his opening remarks. He believed that Indonesia in the future will have to face huge changes such as changes in the leadership of government and the chairmanship itself, thus the reason why AJCUI would like to  contribute to  Indonesia   and region. He closed it with "With every hurdle and challenges, there always comes opportunities."

The seminar started by H.E. Beata Stoczynska, the Ambassador of Poland in Indonesia. She stressed that the Asian market isn't discovered enough by other countries, including European Union. That being said, she believes that Indonesia has potential. "When I came to Indonesia in 2018, we heard in Poland, maybe like 40 or 50 students from Indonesia, I realized how important education is; how Poland can offer studies in English language in many technical sectors, like engineering and IT, medicine, agriculture." she mentioned.

The main discussion about "Indonesia's
Leaderships in ASEAN: In view towards the political year of 2024".

The second speaker, H.E. Nebojša Koharovic as the Ambassador of Croatia in Indonesia, stressed regarding the identity and presence of ASEAN in the world. "The problem is with ASEAN: what is ASEAN all about? How do you sell ASEAN to somebody from any other part of the world?" he said. However, H.E. Nebojša believe one of the flaw in Indonesia is the education. "Indonesia is still "not achieved" as the country of good quality education. For ages, Indonesia was presenting themselves in the world with the culture."
