Nobel Laureate Lecture Series 6th ASEAN Bridges Events at Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia

ATMA JAYA CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA is delighted to present its cooperation with the International Peace Foundation.  Therefore the university will host an esteemed Nobel Laureate in early 2017 as part of the foundation’s 6th ASEAN event series titled “Bridges – Dialogue Towards a Culture of Peace”.  The 6th ASEAN series of “Bridges” follows the “Bridges” series which the International Peace Foundation has continuously held in Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Singapore since 2003. In serving as one of the partner institutions, ATMA JAYA CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA has the honor of playing an integral role in welcoming the “Bridges” program to Indonesia and views this cooperation to be a key step forward in the country’s continued development.

 

This series of lectures will be represented by a world-renowned economist and the 2003 Nobel Laureate in Economics, Prof. Robert F. Engel III. He developed improved mathematical techniques for the evaluation and more accurate forecasting of risk which have become essential tools of modern asset pricing theory and practice. His work had particular relevance in financial market analysis in which the investment returns of an asset were assessed against its risks and in which stock prices and returns could exhibit extreme volatility. Professor Engel will speak on the “Prospects for Global Financial Stability” at ATMA JAYA CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA.

 

Through this partnership, ATMA JAYA CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA hopes that the events could influence Indonesia’s young generation to think globally and establish long-term relationships through the Nobel Laureates by enhancing science, technology and education as a basis for peace and development also to lead a better cooperation for the advancement of peace, freedom and security in Indonesia.
