Culture is the total way of life that people in the society are blessed with. Culture is the characteristic of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. Although culture of each society varies widely, through good communication and mutual understanding, we can bridge the cultural differences.

 

After the success of our 1^st Intercultural Day last year, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (AJCUI) would like to organize similar annual event this year. This shall be an event celebrating our Indonesian culture and also other cultures beyond our borders and continent. This event would consist of several exciting activities, ranging from academic talk shows, cultural exhibitions and performances, vlog competition and also cultural workshops. To enliven this event, AJCUI would like to invite you to participate and show your unique yet rich culture in our 2^nd Intercultural Day on October 10-11, 2017.

 

 

 

• To raise levels of consciousness in understanding, awareness and tolerance of intercultural differences, share different cultural experiences; network with key stakeholders involved in dealing with ethical and human rights issues relevant to education tourism and foreign nationals.
• International learning and knowledge which will propel young generation’s  academic understanding and cultural community perspectives.
• Enhanced analytical and problem solving skills in global issues as well as a broader general knowledge.

 

 

 

 

1. 1.   SEMINAR

A seminar will be conducted to equip participants with important information they need to know about how to enhance analytical and problem solving skills in global issues as well as a broader general knowledge. The theme of the seminar is “The Dynamics of ASEAN Economic Community: Managing Multidimensional Opportunities and Challenges”. It will be organized by Atma Jaya Master of International Business program, with the speakers coming from international and domestic institutions.

 

1. 2.   EXHIBITION AND WORKSHOP

There will be booths to exhibit the diverse cultures of our international and domestic students. We also would like to invite Atma Jaya international partners to set up booths and introduce their cultures to visitors. In addition, those who set up booths could also teach the visitors their various unique games, arts, and dances in a workshop.

 

1. 3.   STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCE

AJCUI has students clubs which focus on traditional martial arts, dances and music. This is the chance for Atma Jaya students to show off what they got from their clubs. Some of the international students will join the celebration with domestic students.

 

1. 4.   ONE MINUTE VLOG COMPETITION

We open a vlog competition to those who could demonstrate their one best minute on intercultural day. Participants to this vlog competition must choose one of these themes below:

• Similarities between Indonesia and my country (for international students/ foreigners)
• Cultural shock
• Adjusting oneself in a new culture
• How to celebrate intercultural day
