International Night with International Student

06/02/2014 00:00:00

On May 5th until May 8th 2014, Westfalische Hochshule held an event called International Week. In that event, they invited some international students with their professor from many other countries, such as Poland, Finland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Belgium, Russia, Romania, and Thailand.  This international week is an event to give those international student like a “trial class” so they can imagine what kind of learning that we have studied here, how is the atmosphere, and so on. So, during this week, the international students will get in to the class and learn the same course like we did already. The courses are Cross Culture Management, International Economic, International Marketing, and Business Simulation.

As an exchange student, we had another great opportunities during this international week. What is it? We have a presentation in International Economic and it’s an individual presentation. Yes, we have to speak in front of many students (and professor too, of course) in English, alone. No doubt, we are so nervous at the beginning, but we nail it! (yes, we harvest our hard work) J

So after this International Economic course (which is on Wednesday), we went for a bus trip to Cologne. Cologne is a quite big city in North Rhine-Westphalia, which has Koln Dom as its signature building (ps: we also take a lot of picture there!)

On last day of this International Week, we had a barbeque in backyard of our campus. The weather is not that nice that day, but it did not prevent us to eat some delicious meat, which is well-organized by the campus. And the exchange students are told to brought some of the signature dishes or snack from their own countries. So then, we made “Risol Mayonaise” from Indonesia, Lenka Knolova from Czech Republic made a bun filled with poppy seed and goat cheese, it is called “Butchy”, and Allison Brown from USA made something called “Apple Cobbler.” Everything was so delicious, and our tummy are very happy that day.

After eating very well, there is band performance by the professor of Westfalische Hochshule. We were singing and dancing all night long. And now it’s time to say goodbye! It is really hard because we just known each other very well, and now we have to be separated by distance already, but we believe that we will meet again soon.

So, it’s the end of our story. It was really a great experience for us. We’ve got new friend from all over the world now, learnt some difference culture, and the most important thing, we do have fun! J
