Competition Law Cases on Food Retail Industry - Experience in Indonesia

Abstract

 

The article discusses three cases about shop-based retailing in Indonesia decided by its Commission of the Supervision of Business Activities (KPPU). The first case was about the expansion of Indomaret‘s market by opening shops in many different areas in direct competition with the traditional market. The second case is about trading terms imposed by Carrefour in 2005 and the third case involved Carrefour‘s acquisition of retailer Alfa and addressed the issue of abuse of dominant position.
