The Perks of Being FTb Student

2/10/2015 12:00:00 AM

HOLA A TODOS! (read: Hi, everyone!)

The reason why I write this is because I too found the encouragement from reading some of the sharing letters from alumni, especially from Lia Vania Dewi (2006) with her sharing letter from Spain on 2011. She has graduated last year, and I now have the enrollment in the same program. My name is Vivia Khosasih, an alumnus of Faculty of Biotechnology (FTb 2007 to 2011). I am currently a graduate student of Forensic Science at University of Córdoba, Córdoba, Spain started from Sept 2014. I have almost finished my first semester here in Córdoba and will be moving to Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Egas Moniz, Lisboa, Portugal next Feb 2015 and University of Lincoln, Lincoln, UK on Sept 2015. This high mobility program is as the part of the Erasmus+ (formerly known as Erasmus Mundus) Master Program. Ever since I was in Junior High School, I always dream to become a scientist. My journey then began when I was accepted to be one of those biotechnology students in Atma Jaya Catholic University, and it has brought me to where I am now. I am proud to be the graduate of FTb program. The course provides a great variety of different biotechnology topics. It covers from wet laboratory, in which you will have practical and be working in the laboratory, such as plant biotechnology, DNA Technology, microbiology, to dry lab, in this case is bioinformatics. The course also comes together with a lot of seminars and guest lecturers given by well-known guest from world-wide. It gives me a vast amount of knowledge in biotechnology and obtains a broad network. In my last semester, I have never imagined to have the opportunity to participate as an exchange student to The Catholic University of Korea (CUK), South Korea as the partner university for completing my thesis research. Last but not the least, I have to mention the best supporter during and even after my graduation are the Professors, Lecturers, Laboratory Technicians and best friends I found during my college years. Looking back at these 4 years I can say that these have been the best years of my life!

So, what are you waiting for?

Sincerely,

Vivia
