Volume 1

Since 1977, the Atma Jaya Research Centre together with the Atma Hospital and Faculty if Medicine, have cooperated in programs on community health and action-oriented researches. These programs were aimed mainly at the health of the urban poor.

Research experience in the last ten years showed a dearth of written materials related to the health of the urban poor. This has been due to the fact that, although there have been researches made, the materials were spread thin and wide over several libraries in Indonesia. It may also have been due to the lack of interest shown by community health specialists for the urban population in general.

In order to assist policy makers and health specialist on urban health in Indonesia, the Atma Jaya Research Centre is publishing this compilation. This is a collection of research results, government policies, and other papers related to urban public health problems.

These materials were collected from January 1987 to May 1987 or five months. They were gathered from private collections, several libraries in Jakarta, the Gadjah Mada University library in Yogyakarta, and the Airlangga University in Surabaya. These materials cover published materials between 1975 and 1986.

This collection consists of 2 volumes. The first volume is an analysis of urban community health in Indonesia. The second volumes are annotated bibliographies on urban health. Original sources of the bibliographies are available in microfiche form at the library of the Research Centre.
