VISITATION TO DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY NOVEMBER 15, 2013

11/25/2013 00:00:00

After the last seminar that we sat on, we went to meet with the Dean of Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business, DR. Maria Andrea L. Santiago.  We explained to her our intention in cooperation, especially in social-entrepreneurship.  Midway into our talked, she called her colleague, Ms. Divina M. Edralin, Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Studies.

From their explanation, the undergraduate studies did not have a class on socio-entrepreneurship, but it was integrated into the other courses.  There was an initiative to have a class on it but it was not finalized yet because in their college, there was a department which was the Social Science and Innovation Department, which have the socio-entrepreneurship class.

It was very clear that they were interested to initialize in a joined research, training of faculty members or community engagement in socio-entrepreneurship.  After that, they believed that they could start with a student’s exchange in the community engagement.  It could be a maximum of one semester. They preferred the lecturer exchange first, so that they can learn what they needed and wanted for the activities that could be done.  One idea that came up was the business plan competition between students and where the two universities would arrange the competition.  They believe the best months to do the exchange was between January – April.  They asked for us to send a draft on the technical aspect as well as a joint research proposal between the two faculties before the formal MOU.  The research was agreed that it would be in the area of socio-entrepreneurship.
