DEAN’S GREETING

The School of Bioscience, Technology, and Innovation (FBTI) is a faculty that administers academic programs in the fields of Bioscience and Technology. The faculty offers undergraduate programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Technology, and Information Systems, as well as postgraduate programs including the Master’s Program in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s Program in Electrical Engineering, Master’s Program in Biotechnology, and the Professional Engineer Program.

Innovation in academic development, impactful research, and community-oriented initiatives serve as the primary driving forces behind the advancement of bioscience and technology within the faculty. These achievements are supported by the strong commitment of Unika Atma Jaya in providing well-equipped laboratory facilities and highly qualified academic staff, ensuring that students are adequately prepared to meet the demands of the professional world.

The recent achievement of “Unggul” accreditation for the Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, and Food Technology Study Programs, as well as “Baik Sekali” accreditation for the Industrial Engineering Study Program and the Professional Engineer Program, alongside the attainment of international ASIIN accreditation for the Biotechnology, Master of Biotechnology, and Food Technology programs, reflects FBTI’s ongoing commitment to continuously improving academic quality and delivering excellence for its students.

The integration of Bioscience and Technology-related study programs within a single faculty provides a distinctive advantage in fostering multidisciplinary collaboration. The faculty also maintains partnerships with various industries and institutions, both nationally and internationally, in academic and research activities, thereby equipping students with valuable opportunities and competencies to compete at the global level.

    ABOUT THE FACULTY
    The Faculty of Biosciences, Technology, and Innovation (FBTI) of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia was officially established on January 1, 2025, through the merger of the Faculty of Engineering, which was founded on July 1, 1961, and the Faculty of Technobiology, which was established on April 3, 2002. At the undergraduate level, the first study program established in 1961 was Mechanical Engineering, followed by the establishment of the Electrical Engineering Study Program in 1979. Subsequently, the Industrial Engineering Study Program was founded in 1999. In 2002, the Biology Study Program was established and later renamed the Biotechnology Study Program, becoming the first undergraduate Biotechnology Study Program in Indonesia. The Food Technology Study Program was established in 2014, followed by the establishment of the Information Systems Study Program in 2017. FBTI of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia also offers graduate programs, including the Master’s Programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, as well as the Professional Engineer Program.

    Since 2017, FBTI has conducted academic activities across two campuses. Campus I Semanggi accommodates the Master’s Programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, the Professional Engineer Program, as well as the undergraduate programs in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. Campus 3 of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia in BSD is designated for all undergraduate programs, including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Technology, and Information Systems.

    Vision

    To become a leading faculty in the fields of biosciences and technology that is innovative, academically and professionally excellent, and that embodies the integration of Christian faith and science and technology in fostering the intellectual development of the nation.

    Mission

    1. To provide academic and professional education for the advancement of biosciences and technology and the development of students’ character.
    2. To conduct basic and applied research to advance innovative biosciences and technology.
    3. To dedicate expertise in biosciences and technology through appropriate community service activities.
    4. To manage higher education in a collaborative and sustainable manner that is effective, efficient, and ethical.

    Faculty Objectives

    • To produce graduates who are professional, possess integrity, demonstrate social responsibility, have a global orientation, and are responsive to developments in biosciences and technology.
    • To generate research outputs and scholarly works published at national and international levels and to obtain intellectual property rights.
    • To implement community service activities in accordance with expertise in the fields of biosciences and technology.
    • To develop higher education programs that are effective, efficient, collaborative, and sustainable.
    • To develop modern educational facilities and infrastructure, as well as professional academic and administrative staff.
