On July 23, 2025, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (UAJ) welcomed an official visit from Yuan Ze University (YZU), Taiwan, aimed at strengthening the collaboration that has been established over the past several years. The delegation consisted of Prof. Yun-Chia Liang, Chief of the Global Affairs Office YZU; Dr. Panca Jodiawan, Assistant Professor YZU; Billy Ngaliman, S.T., MBA, a doctoral student in Industrial Engineering and Management at YZU and alumnus of UAJ’s Industrial Engineering Program (class of 2010); and Christine Natalia, S.T., M.T., a faculty member of UAJ’s Industrial Engineering Program currently pursuing doctoral studies at YZU. Welcoming the delegation were Prof. Dr. dr. Yuda Turana, Sp.S(K), Rector of UAJ; Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Setyanto, M.Sc., IPU, ACPE, APEC Eng., Dean of the Faculty of Biosciences, Technology, and Innovation (FBTI); along with the faculty leadership team and lecturers of FBTI. The YZU delegation, together with the Rector, Deanery, and FBTI faculty members, took a group photo in front of UAJ’s newly inaugurated main lobby (Figure 1).

The main agenda of this visit was the awarding of a Teaching and Research Grant and the extension of funding support for the YZU x AJCUI Collaboration Center for another two years. Established in 2024 (when the faculty was still named the Faculty of Engineering), the YZU x AJCUI Collaboration Center was created to foster dynamic partnerships between YZU Taiwan and UAJ through collaborative education, research, and community engagement. The initiative was led by Industrial Engineering faculty members Ir. Yanto, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng. (then Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering), Dr. Feliks P.S. Surbakti (Head of the Industrial Engineering Program), Prof. Ir. Ronald Sukwadi, Ph.D., IPU, and Christine Natalia, S.T., M.T. (serving also as the liaison). Since its inception, the Center has supported and facilitated numerous programs, both as organizer and as a connector.

The reception took place at the YZU-AJCUI Collaboration Center, 5th floor, Building A, BSD Campus. The event opened with welcoming remarks from Prof. Dr. dr. Yuda Turana, Sp.S(K), followed by remarks from Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Setyanto, M.Sc., IPU, ACPE, APEC Eng., and then from Prof. Yun-Chia Liang on behalf of YZU Taiwan. The agenda continued with a Sharing Knowledge – YZU Fact session by Billy Ngaliman, followed by a presentation by Ir. Yanto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng., titled “Achievement Report and Strategy to Promote YZU x AJCUI Collaboration.” The presentation highlighted the first-year achievements of the collaboration, including school, university, and industry visits to the Center, seminars and webinars, mini-competitions, Mandarin courses, joint research projects, and various promotional activities (Figure 2).

Following the presentations, a symbolic handover ceremony took place. Prof. Yun-Chia Liang presented the Teaching & Research Grant of USD 37,000 for two years to UAJ, represented by Rector Prof. Dr. dr. Yuda Turana, Sp.S(K) (Figure 3). This was followed by the handover of a Laboratory Equipment Grant worth NTD 90,000 to two laboratories of the Industrial Engineering Program, represented by Dean Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Setyanto, M.Sc., IPU, ACPE, APEC Eng. Lastly, a Student Activity Grant worth NTD 15,000 was awarded through FBTI’s Head of Student Affairs, Eugenius Kau Suni, S.T., M.T. The event concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere with a luncheon at Pangeran Minang Restaurant, Alam Sutera, Serpong (Figure 4).
