Jakarta, 13-14 June 2026 – The International Office of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia organized an outing for the exchange students of the 2025/2026 second semester to Untung Jawa Island. The outing itself was organized to provide students with experiences beyond the classroom such as to strengthen relationships between the students and locals while introducing students to Indonesia’s cultural richness, natural beauty, social environment, and tourism potential of Indonesia. The students and the committee gathered in Tanjung Pasir Harbor early in the morning before leaving to the island. Upon arriving, the locals welcomed them warmly with welcome drinks and lunch by a very scenic view of the ocean. The students also took a guided walk around the island to explore and learn about the history and local traditions of the island and how nature grew and gets preserved in the island.

On the second day of the trip, the students were brought to water sports activities such as banana boat, Donut Boat, and snorkeling. These activities encouraged teamwork, communication, and cultural exchange among participants while allowing them to experience one of Indonesia’s coastal tourism destinations firsthand. The outing concluded with students sharing their impressions and expressing appreciation for the opportunity to connect beyond the academic setting. In addition to recreational activities, the outing became a meaningful opportunity for students to strengthen friendships and engage in cultural exchange beyond the classroom environment. Spending time together throughout the trip allowed participants to create memorable moments and gain a deeper appreciation of Indonesia’s local communities and natural surroundings. (ARK)
