Davao City, 11 February 2026 – The spirit of international collaboration came alive as the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), Philippines, officially launched the PILOT HRT 2026 Virtual Lecture Exchange — bringing together academic partners across borders to discuss the future of tourism and hospitality. Among the invited international speakers was a representative from Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (AJCUI), specifically from the Hospitality Study Program under the Faculty of Business Administration and Communication Sciences. This participation reflects AJCUI’s growing commitment to contributing to global conversations in sustainable tourism and hospitality education.

One of the featured speakers, Jodie Giovanna Abrahamsz from AJCUI, delivered a lecture entitled “From Community-Based to Regenerative Tourism: Rethinking Sustainable Development in Small Island Destinations.” In her presentation, Mrs. Jodie shared insights drawn from her experience in sustainable tourism development, strategic communications, and cross-cultural project coordination. She encouraged students and fellow academics to move beyond conventional sustainability models and explore regenerative approaches with her talk — especially for small island destinations that face unique environmental and socio-economic challenges.
