Jakarta, 8-11 June 2026 — Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (AJCUI) joined the 26th edition of Europe on Screen (EoS), the longest-running European film festival in Indonesia. Organized by the European Union and European diplomatic and cultural missions in Indonesia, the festival featured 55 films from 28 European countries and was held across eight cities nationwide. Through its diverse selection of films, EoS 2026 celebrated human stories, cultural diversity, and the power of cinema to foster understanding across communities and borders. This year's festival highlighted themes of inclusivity, diversity, and shared human experiences while also providing a platform for emerging filmmakers. In addition to film screenings, Europe on Screen continued its support for Indonesia's creative industry through programs such as the Short Film Pitching Project (SFPP), which helps young filmmakers develop and showcase their work.
As one of the official screening venues for Europe on Screen 2026, AJCUI welcomed members of the university community and the wider public to experience European cinema on campus. The university's involvement reflects its commitment to supporting international cultural initiatives and providing opportunities for students to engage with global perspectives beyond the classroom. Through film as a medium of learning and dialogue, participants were able to explore different social, cultural, and contemporary issues from across Europe. AJCUI's participation in Europe on Screen 2026 further strengthens its role as a hub for international engagement and intercultural exchange. By hosting activities that connect academic communities with global cultural initiatives, the university continues to encourage openness, critical thinking, and cross-cultural understanding among its students and stakeholders.
