Eko Widodo, Dr.


Biography

Dr Eko Widodo, SH, S. Sos., M.M., is a lecturer in the department of Business Administration, Atma Jaya Catholic University, Indonesia. Currently, he is the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Communication Studies, at the same university.


He graduated from the Department of Sociology, University of Gadjah Mada and the Faculty of Law, University of Atma Jaya Yogyakarta. He holds a Master of Management from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University and obtained a Ph.D. from the Department of Business Administration, University of Brawijaya. He also studied at the Department of Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism at the University of Aveiro Portugal and Busines departments, Cultural and Legal Studies at Konstanz University of Applied Sciences, Germany.


Dr Eko Widodo authored several books, articles and professional papers. He published books on Marketing Strategy and Policy, Introduction to Business Administration and History of the Portuguese in Indonesia. He is also a regular contributor at SWA magazine (a leading business magazine in Indonesia). In social activities, he served as secretary general of the Indonesia - Portugal Friendship and Cooperation Association.

 

Education

Dr. Eko Widodo began his higher education by earning a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Gadjah Mada University in 1994, and in the same year, he also completed his Bachelor's degree in Law at Atma Jaya University, Yogyakarta. He continued his studies at Gadjah Mada University, obtaining a Master's degree in Management in 1995. His academic journey culminated with a Doctorate degree from Brawijaya University in 2012, focusing on in-depth research in the field of management.

Dr. Eko Widodo has expertise in various fields, including Consumer Behavior and Tourist Behavior, both of which are highly relevant in the context of marketing and management. His deep knowledge of the dynamics of human behavior serves as an essential foundation for understanding effective business and marketing strategies.

 

Teaching

In his capacity as a lecturer, Dr. Eko Widodo teaches several courses that are highly relevant to modern business developments, including E-Business, Marketing Policies & Strategies, Creative Content, and Disaster Management. He also teaches Marketing Management, Product & Brand Management, Introduction to Business Administration, as well as Business Strategies and Policies. Additionally, Dr. Eko supervises students in their thesis preparation, ensuring that they can apply theoretical knowledge in real-world practice.

 One of his works, ""Attitudes towards Risk Taking at the Beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic: A Cross Cultural Study,"" examines how attitudes toward risk-taking vary across different cultures at the onset of the pandemic. This research provides important insights into the cultural factors influencing individual decisions in crisis situations.

 

 In the publication ""Cross-cultural and gender differences as predictors of workaholic and perfectionist attitudes during the Covid-19 pandemic,"" Dr. Eko analyzes cross-cultural and gender differences that contribute to workaholic behavior and perfectionism. These findings reveal how social and cultural contexts can affect individual work behavior during difficult times.

 

 Dr. Eko also discusses ""Cross-cultural Research of the Perceived Risk During the COVID-19 Pandemic,"" which focuses on risk perceptions across various cultures. This research offers a picture of how individuals from different cultural backgrounds respond to global health threats, as well as its implications for public health policies.

 

 In another work titled ""Melihat Sisi Gelap"" (Seeing the Dark Side), Dr. Eko examines the negative aspects that may arise in human behavior during a crisis, prompting readers to consider the psychological challenges faced by individuals and society.

 

 He also highlights significant issues in the publication ""Menguatnya Ancaman terhadap Kelangsungan Peradaban"" (The Strengthening Threats to the Survival of Civilization), where Dr. Eko discusses global challenges that could impact the future of human civilization. This in-depth analysis offers critical perspectives on the threats faced, as well as the need for collective awareness to address these issues.
