2/19/2022 12:00:00 AM

Jakarta, February 19, 2022 – To encourage efforts to accelerate the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia has completed the booster vaccination process at the Atma Jaya Berdaya Vaccination Center (SVA-DAYA). The provision of this booster closes the collaboration in organizing the Covid-19 Booster Vaccination Center straight from January 24, 2022, to February 17, 2022.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Atma Jaya Foundation Trustees, Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo, expressed his appreciation for the accomplishment of booster vaccinations which reached more than 28,000 recipients. The SVA-DAYA Booster has been implemented at Campus I Semanggi, Campus II Pluit, Campus III BSD, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, and Atma Jaya Hospital.

Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo explained that vaccines are not a magical cure, but vaccination is a human effort to solve the pandemic problem that is being faced not only by the Indonesian people but by the whole world; as well as the most adequate solution for disease prevention.

"Pandemic is a humanitarian challenge that must be acknowledged with a humanitarian perspective as well. Vaccination is part of a human effort that shows humanity‘s commitment to disease prevention and the establishment of community immunization. All are distributed without discrimination," said Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo as Chair of the Indonesian Bishops’ Conference and Chair of the Trustees; Atma Jaya Foundation.

Cardinal Ignatius also expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and support of several parties as a form of concern and allocated responsibility in supporting the success of accelerating the vaccination program. It is noted that SVA-DAYA has succeeded in vaccinating more than 100,000 acceptors, calculated from the implementation of SVA-DAYA since March 2021.

“This Vaccination Center is a real movement to show concern for the community as well as an embodiment of Atma Jaya basic values, specifically Christianity, Excellence, Professionalism and Care (KUPP). The inspiration of faith and the motivation of humanity will encourage us to keep making an effort, creatively, to work together to find new ways of service. ‘For God and Motherland‘, this is the value ??that supports the spirit of service, said Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo.

Commensurate with, Unika Atma Jaya Rector Dr. A. Prasetyantoko emphasized that Unika Atma Jaya always encourages collaboration between the private sector and the government to organize vaccination centers.

“The form of concern as the importance of educators in restoring the face-to-face learning process has also received great attention from various parties. This shows a shared concern and strong evidence of the social capital owned by the Indonesian people to overcome the pandemic situation that has impacted Indonesia and the world," said Prasetyantoko, who is also known as an Indonesian economist.

A. Prasetyantoko expressed his hope that other vaccination centers could continue to emerge to increase the penetration rate of vaccines in Indonesia. Through the provision of booster vaccines, it is anticipated that the community will have sufficient health resilience capabilities so that socio-economic and development activities can return to running well even though they are in new normal conditions.

This vaccination program is an important step to support the Healthy Indonesia program to accelerate the government‘s vaccination program, as well as an important part of sustainable steps for colleges to return to support face-to-face lectures (PTM).
