Notary, as a public official who has the authority to issue authentic deeds, holds a pivotal role in the society because many sectors related to business transactions among the people typically requires the work of a Notary. Furthermore, some documents do require an issuance of Notarial Deed, which otherwise will be considered to have no binding legal force if made without a Notarial Deed. Given that, in efforts to improve the professionalism of the Notary, the issuance of Regulation Number 30 of 2004 on Notary Positions has granted the minister some obligations and authority, which are then transferred to the Notary Supervisory Board, to conduct some management and supervision of the Notaries in doing their job. This is a promising step as it can ensure the accountability of any notarial work needed by the society.
