Academics and Educational Personnel Reach Out to the Society
When most of us get comfortable with #stayathome, not everyone can do so. Among them are blue-collar workers. Fonny Cokro Head of Pharmacy Study Program shares a heartfelt story of small things we might imitate in these difficult times,
"I get emotional when the itinerant tailors right cross the street said they are losing income (due to coronavirus). Knowing this, together with colleagues at the Pharmacy Study Program, we moved to help by ordering cloth masks. After it finished, we washed and wrapped them and then distributed them to those who still had to work, such as dustmen, online motorcycle taxi drivers, bus or taxi drivers, couriers, and others around the neighborhood,"
"We also produce and distribute hand sanitizers to them. What we did might not be big, but collectively this is the least we can do to relieve government’ burdens."
The educational personnel also eagerly show their concern for medical and health workers at the Atma Jaya Hospital, Pluit, by raising funds. The funds used to bought additional logistics such as milk and cereals and later distributed. Although small, this initiative hopefully may bring zephyr amid chaos.

Some of the cases above are some of the things done by academicians and educational personnel to help the government overcome the Covid-19 pandemic. All sectors are indeed affected. Nonetheless, this is an opportunity for every person to put aside personal interest, have empathy, and be kind to one another, even though it is a small act. Then it will truly reflect the spirit of Atma Jaya’ Lustrum XII: From Atma Jaya for Indonesia.
