The Five Atma Jaya Certified Librarians

Five librarians of the Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (AJCUI) successfully passed the competency examination by the Professional Certification Institution (LSP) of the Librarian. This institution is an independent certification body managed by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas RI), which has been licensed by the National Professional Certification Board (BNSP).
This certification program is to grant professional certification to librarians. The process carried out in a systematic and objective through competency assessment that refers to the Indonesian national work competency standards in the field of libraries to a librarian. Certification is one way to enrich capacity, build a career, and ensuring one quality.
"It is a pleasure for us. This achievement is a quantum leap since the Atma Jaya library established. This certification is a recognition both among the APTIK library network and nationwide of our staff competence, " said Santi Kusuma, S.Pd., M.Sc., Chief Librarian of Atma Jaya.
The certificate is valid in the ASEAN region. Within the framework of AFTA, it allows the mobility of Atma Jaya librarians to work in libraries in any ASEAN country. This professional certification is increasingly important, given that in the context of facing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), it could strengthen the competitiveness and competence of Indonesian workers to meet global expectations.
"In accordance with the AFTA, it allows foreigners to work in Indonesia, why can‘t we go there (to work overseas). I hope they not only succeed in the home country, but they can bring Atma Jaya to the world, " Santi added.
Atma Jaya library submitted to five different clusters: the Information and Information Literacy cluster (Santi Kusuma), the Procurement cluster (Lian Hateveana Dhita), the circulation and reference service cluster (Peggy Antonette Soplantila, Ester Tiurma Samosir, and Dharma Halim Sunarly).
Furthermore, the Atma Jaya library will apply for library accreditation, which will be carried out by the BNSP. The purpose of this library accreditation is to achieving one of the university‘s strategic goals, which is academic excellence, in order to support the performance of the university and faculty fully.

Academic Excellence: Library Innovation
Atma Jaya Library will soon launch an academic writing center. This innovation allows students who are doing research or writing a final pepper to come for a consultation with a team of experts who help them to see the area of ??improvement for their research.
As a pillar of the university, the library wants to not stop with the procurement of books, journals, and references but to continue to innovate through various programs. One of them is plagiarism training, which involves students. The library also subscribes to many applications that can support the need of the academic community to achieve academic excellence. The Microlearning Program, which was successful some time ago, is a pioneer in terms of innovation in the field of literacy in Indonesia to introduce blockchain technology, which is currently rife in the industry.
