Biography

Dr. Diana Elizabeth Waturangi is a Professor of Microbiology at Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia. She earned her doctoral degree from IPB University through a sandwich program at FAL, Germany, and continued her postdoctoral research at the University of Texas, Houston, USA. She previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology (2010–2017) and is currently the Country Ambassador of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) as well as a member of the ASM International Council (2021).
She is actively involved as an expert panelist at the Indonesian National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM-RI) and a member of the Food and Nutrition Academy under the Indonesian Academy of Sciences. Her research focuses on the application of antibiofilm and bacteriophages to control foodborne pathogens and aquaculture-related biofilms.
Her work has been published in numerous reputable international journals and in books on biofilms and bacteriophages. She has received several prestigious research grants, including from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, ISID (USA), IFS (Sweden), and was honored with the Science and Technology Award from the Indonesia Toray Science Foundation.
