National Education Day: The Spirit of Atma Jaya Catholic University in Educating the Nation




Jakarta, 2 May 2023 - National Education Day (Hardiknas), which falls on 2 May, is a day set by the Indonesian government to commemorate the services of one of the important figures for the progress of this nation's education, Ki Hajar Dewantara.

In commemoration of Hardiknas, the Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia as one of the educational institutions, namely universities, held a flag ceremony on the field of Campus I Semanggi on Tuesday (2/5) ago.



The ceremony, which was attended by Atma Jaya Catholic University (Unika Atma Jaya) students and also the entire Academic Community, took place solemnly. Ceremony officers consisting of students who are members of the Student Regiment Student Activity Unit (UKM Menwa) and the choir from UKM Gita Swara Jaya are proof that Indonesia's young generation still has a high nationalist spirit for the country.



In his speech, dr. Tommy Nugroho, Sp.An as the inspector of the ceremony representing Dr. dr. Felicia Kurniawan, M.Kes as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Unika Atma Jaya conveyed a message about the importance of education for a nation.

"As an educational institution, Unika Atma Jaya is responsible for participating in educating the Indonesian Nation and helping students who have good academic potential through several scholarship programme schemes," said the Anesthesia specialist as the inspector of the ceremony.



She further said that Unika Atma Jaya itself has managed to go through the COVID-19 pandemic well, which also shows the university's ability to adapt and innovate according to needs appropriately and quickly.



Dr Felicia also hopes that in the future Unika Atma Jaya can continue to produce graduates who are able to implement Christian, Excellent, Professional and Caring values in accordance with their respective fields, and can contribute to society.
