Unika Atma Jaya Embraces External Stakeholders in Building Green Campus
Jakarta, 16 June 2023 - Three Indonesian universities, namely Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR), Atma Jaya Indonesian Catholic University (Unika) and Trisakti University held an Exploration Study and Stakeholder Mapping as a follow-up to the European Union Erasmus+ ECoGREEN Consortium project.
The activity, which was held on Wednesday (14/06) and Friday (16/06) at the Karol Wojtyla Building lt. 7, Campus I Semanggi aims to support the transformation of the university's sustainability curriculum and entrepreneurship that is more environmentally friendly.
This regional, interdisciplinary and university-wide activity encompassing the International Tri Dharma is funded by the European Union for three years, from 2023 to early 2025.
Christiana Juliana, as the coordinator of Unika Atma Jaya, said in her opening remarks on Wednesday (14/06) that the exploration study was conducted as a first step to build a green entrepreneurship programme that would then be implemented in the consortium's partner universities.
"The purpose of this activity is to obtain honest information about the implementation of green entrepreneurship on the Unika Atma Jaya Campus, which during the development process must be based on the real conditions in the university field," he added.
Through dialogue with representatives of Parahyangan University as the PIC of the ECoGREEN Consortium and also representatives of Unika Atma Jaya, it is hoped that useful results will be obtained for green entrepreneurship programs that can be applied nationally and internationally.
Furthermore, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was also held on Friday (16/06) in order to discuss stakeholder mapping with representatives from the National Secretariat of SDGs Bappenas, the Professional Association of the Indonesian Institute of Management Accountants (IAMI), the NGO Masyarakat Penanggulangan Bencana Indonesia (MPBI), Wildlife Works, Unika Atma Jaya alumni, and several media partners in Indonesia.
In the FGDs, substantial questions were asked to external stakeholders about the meaning of green entrepreneurship and its sustainability programme, and the efforts that must be made for the programme to be implemented. Through the discussion, important issues related to sustainability were also raised, emphasising the role of each element of society in addressing these issues.
Unika Atma Jaya as an educational institution also continues to accelerate programmes that support sustainable development goals. This is in line with the results of the FGD which conveyed an important conclusion, namely the need to build awareness, image, and activities that can integrate all parties with the university as a bridge. These are important components for the acceleration of sustainability and green entrepreneurship in Indonesia.
