LPPM Atma Jaya Catholic University Holds Technical Guidance on Writing Community Service Proposals

Jakarta, 21 March 2023 - Committed to continuing to develop research and community service programs in order to have a more positive impact, the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Atma Jaya Catholic University (Unika Atma Jaya) invited the National Reviewer of PKM Dikti, Prof. Dr. med. Vet. drh. R. Wisnu Nurcahyo gave technical guidance in the Unika Atma Jaya environment.

Attended by lecturers, researchers, and officials in a number of faculties, the guidance focused on the Ministry of Education and Culture's DRTPM grant 2023. The discussion was hosted by Sri Hapsari Wijayanti, S.S., M.Hum., Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business.

Prof. Dr Wisnu suggested to the audience at the opening of the discussion to view research and community service as a source of happiness for the perpetrators. With this perspective, researchers and community servants are expected to carry out their activities wholeheartedly.

In addition, Prof Dr Wisnu also highlighted the development of research and community service, which he said must change. "So far, there is no connection between education and research and community service, this is an obstacle," he said.

"Start from our own scope, start from our own neighbourhood." Prof. Dr Vishnu suggested to start making proposals from their own scope, as well as starting from the immediate environment.

In his presentation, he also conveyed updates related to the proposal-making scheme that was changed by Dikti. He reminded that it is now important to convey the Main Performance Indicators (KPI) in the service proposal.

There are 8 indicators that can be used as KPIs in the submitted proposal, namely (1) Graduates get decent jobs; (2) Students get off-campus experience; (3) Lecturers do off-campus activities; (4) Practitioners teach on campus; (5) Lecturers' work is used by the community and international recognition; (6) Study programmes collaborate with world-class partners; (7) Collaborative and participatory classes; (8) International standard study programmes.

The categories of grants and indicative projects that are interesting and expected by Higher Education are research and community service programmes in the categories of Green Economy, Blue Economy, Digital Economy, Health Independence, and Tourism.

Community service schemes have also evolved. With a variety of community-based, entrepreneurial, or area-based empowerment programme schemes. Prof. Dr. Wisnu reminded us to make research based on the intended community service programme and not to forget to involve students in community service programmes.

In addition, campuses are also now expected to have fostered villages that continue to be fostered with community service programmes. "Fostered villages must continue to be fostered with community service programmes," said Prof. Dr. Wisnu.

"The current community service programme can be multi-disciplinary in the application of research results. So that collaboration between researchers can be more active in community service." added Prof. Dr Wisnu.

Research and community service programmes are in line with Unika Atma Jaya's KUPP value, which is Caring. Concern for the community can be reflected in research and community service programmes that have a positive impact.
