Hosting IMUN 2023, ILKOM Unika Atma Jaya Named the Best Performer

Jakarta, July 17 2023 – International Model United Nations (IMUN), which is a yearly event that exposes its participants to various global perspectives, has been held again this year. Participation in such kinds of international programs has then become one of the primary focuses of Unika Atma Jaya in encouraging students’ involvement at the international scale so as to provide them some global perspectives.

Unika Atma Jaya was selected as the host of IMUN in 2023, which was held in Jakarta from July 14 to 16, 2023. IMUN is an ideal platform for youngsters to garner the experience in engaging in intense constructive debates, negotiations, and problem solving of the global issues at the international scale.

This event is believed to foster the diplomacy skills of the young diplomats, in addition to the teaching of various skills relevant to the current world and the shaping of the individuals into potential future leaders. Using the “learning by doing,” students are invited to study more about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations.

The hosting of IMUN 2023 at Unika Atma Jaya is emblematic of the trust given by international organizations to Unika Atma Jaya, notably the Communication Studies Study Program.

 

“The success of IMUN 2022 has to repeat itself in 2023 and hopefully in the future. The increasing number of participants from various countries, well-organized event, adequate facilities—all of these have demonstrated out professionalism as the host,” said Prof. Dr. Dorien Kartikawangi, the Head of the Communication Studies Program of Unika Atma Jaya.

“Not only that, Unika Atma Jaya was also actively involved by sending its 9 students as delegates and inviting 7 students as part of the organizing committee. Both internal and external partnerships are the strengths that the world can see and acknowledge,” added Prof. Dr. Dorien.
