The Intelligence Profiles among Indonesian in Four Main Islands: Preliminary study of norm tables preparation of the Indonesian Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Fourth Edition

Abstract

The aim of this study is comparing the intelligence of Indonesian people by using The Indonesian WAIS-IVfor the consideration of WAIS-IV-ID’s standardized normative norms. This research performs ANOVA analysis for the 15 subtests, four indexes, and Full-Scaled Intelligence Quotient (FSIQ) of the WAIS-IV-ID and involving 506 healthy participants, with majority female, productive ages from 16 to 59, and middle education background. Results showed that three indexes and 13 subtests scores are significantly different and sample from Java Island has higher scores significantly when compared to sample from Sumatra, Borneo, and Sulawesi Islands. Based on the conducted analysis, the normative data need to be classified differently between islands or between Java Island and Non-Java Island for more accurate scores interpretation of The Indonesian WAIS-IV.The interpretations and implications of the findings are discussed
