Design and Development of SMS-Based Application for Movie Tickets Reservations

Nowadays movie theaters have become a part of community lifestyle, especially in big cities. However, due to their busy schedules, customers tend to find it difficult to spend a lot of time queuing for tickets in movie theaters. To anticipate this situation, a new movie theater service called mobile movie service is developed. This service allows customers to find out the latest movie information and buy tickets using their handphones, by sending Short Message Service (SMS). The mobile movie service software is built using MySQL 5 as the database and Java 2 SDK 1.4.2 as the programming language. Results show that the developed mobile movie service successfully enable customer to do transactions without having to queue and come to movie theaters.
