Abstract

Self-esteem is one of the oldest and the most interesting topic in social psychology. Right now, the measurement of self-esteem in Indonesia is based on self-report with the use of paper and pencil test. That measurement is well known as explicit measurement. From the last decade, there are some problems with the instrument because it is less captured the fact perceived by the respondents. Researcher developed the new measurement to capture the implicit self-esteem by using the method of Implicit Association Test (IAT), with the title Indonesian Implicit Self-esteem Test (IISeT). IISeT is developed and tested from the psychometric aspect by using respondent from 18-25 years old in Jakarta with accidental sampling. Correlation with Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (RSeS) and Self-liking and Self-Competence Scale Revised (SLCS-r) is used to see the external validation of this new instrument. The result said that IISeT is valid and reliable to measure the self-esteem construct.
