In GPR system, antennas are situated very close to the ground surface in order to couple the electromagnetic energy into the ground more effectively. As a result the antenna is strongly influenced by the soil condition. When the matching condition in antenna input port become important issue, the antenna input impedance should be maintained relatively stable. In this paper, resistive loading has been implemented as a method to increase the antenna input impedance stability above ground surface. A case study on microstrip dipole antenna shows that the resistive loading method successfully improved the input impedance stability on the wide frequency range.
