Direct PCR from saliva specimen could boost the laboratorys capacity for SARS CoV 2 detection

8/19/2021 12:00:00 AM

RT-PCR for SARS-CoV-2 is the gold standard for diagnosis of COVID-19. However, the test would take > 4 hours and expensive. Researcher from COVID-19 Laboratory of FKIK UAJ in cooperation with Nalagenetics has optimized direct PCR from saliva specimen for determination of SARS-CoV-2. The new and simple method could boost the capacity of laboratory, and reduced cost. This could contribute to the intensification of tracing and testing of the COVID-19 cases.
