The Launch of Future Digital Economy Lab, Collaboration between Indosat and Atma Jaya

Jakarta, 18 March 2019 - Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (AJCUI) signed a MoU with PT. Indosat, Tbk. The rector of AJCUI, Dr. A. Prasetyantoko and Chris Kanter, the CEO of Indosat, acted as the representatives from each side. The MoU signing was held together with the launch of Future Digital Economy Lab, which was inaugurated by the Indonesian Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartanto, in ITB, Bandung.

 

The scopes written in the MoU involve research, IT development and innovation, business incubation in IT, education, training and facilitation of human resources in IT and IT facility and infrastructure provision. The follow-up of this cooperation is the establishment of Internet of Things (IoT) laboratory in Atma Jaya Faculty of Engineering.

“This cooperation is in line with AJCUI’s vision, especially for Campus 3 BSD as the Center for Human Development, which is prepared as a talent pool for Indonesian human resources who not only have high digital competency, but also have social empathy,” said the Rector of AJCUI, Dr. A. Prasetyantoko.

 

Indosat Ooredo Business established the first Future Digital Economy Lab in ITB, called IoT Innovation and Future Digital Economy Lab, which was inaugurated by Indonesian Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartanto. The program is run through partnerships with AJCUI, Bina Nusantara University, Nahdlatul Utama Surabaya University, Trilogy University, STIE Perbanas, President University, Prasetya Mulya University, Sepuluh November Institute of Technology, and Udayana University. It is expected to be a facility for awareness-based digital learning and talent development through learning by doing.

 

Future Digital Economy is expected to produce fresh ideas, product design references and solutions to answer IoT problems. All ideas are able to be applied in various industrial needs, such as product development, service, manufacture, marketing and others. Moreover, this laboratory is also expected to create talent development and digital-based future economy incubation programs. This facility can also be utilized as the testing place for various IoT devices and sandboxes to get certification, to establish local intellectual property, resource certification and as a meeting place between producers and users.
