Atma Jaya caring for Rusunawa residents, Penjaringan

Jakarta, May 15 2016 – Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia represented by the Faculty of Medicine and Atma Jaya Hospital held a Social Service event on Sunday (15/5) morning. This form of caring from Atma Jaya was held at Rusunawa, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. The event comprised of a medical check-up, a counseling, and morning exercises with the Rusunawa residents.

 

The social service was opened by dr. Soegianto Ali as the Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Rahman, the building manager of Rusunawa Penjaringan, as well as dr. Erfan, who is Head of Atma Jaya Health Centre (Polyclinic) and the head of the event.

 

“The medical check-up is one of the attempts of Atma Jaya to keep the occupants of Rusunawa healthy, and also our support towards the DKI Jakarta Government program in the medical field,” said dr. Soegi upon opening the event. In that opportunity, dr. Soegi also mentioned the plan for opening Atma Jaya Pratama Clinic.

 

The clinic is envisaged to be opened in Rusunawa, Penjaringan. He informed that the primary intention of the clinic is to keep the residents healthy, while the secondary intention is to treat those who are sick.

 

Meanwhile, Rahman, as the building manager of Rusunawa, expressed his gratitude to God and Atma Jaya for the social service event, and he also hoped that the presence of Pratama clinic can keep the residents stay healthy, and able to receive medical treatment from Atma Jaya Hospital.

 

Besides medical check-up, which includes blood pressure, blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol, there was also a medical counseling from dr. Widigda and dr. Teguh about Diabetes. The counseling aimed to make the residents aware of what Diabetes is and how to prevent it. The counseling was held in 5 sessions to ensure that all residents can participate and learn about the disease. A total of 250 residents took the medical check-up and counseling service.

 

This social service was the collaboration between Atma Jaya Catholic University and Atma Jaya Hospital, and was one of the series of 56th Atma Jaya Dies Natalis events. We hope that the residents of the Rusunawa can be healthier with this Medical Check-up social service. (NG)
