Jakarta, 11 March 2018 – Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs of Atma Jaya Faculty of Business Administration and Communication (FIABIKOM), in cooperation with Indonesian Association for Business Administration Science held The 1stInternational Conference: Inclusive Business in the Changing World with the theme “Managing Inclusive & Sustainable Business in the Converging World”. The event was held at Yustinus Auditorium 15th floor, Campus 1 Semanggi on Tuesday, 6 March.

Before starting the conference, Dr. Yohanes Eko Widodo, S.H., S.Sos., M.M., the Dean of FIABIKOM delivered an opening speech, followed by the main event. The main event was divided into two sessions, plenary session and parallel session.

Parallel sessionwas the session where participants presented their research related to inclusive business. Inclusive business refers to a business which comes into a community and encourages the community to join the production stage of a product so that the people can gain income and improve their welfare.

In the first part of parallel session, presentations were delivered by four participants from Sangga Buana YPKP University, Bina Insani Higher Institute, Widyatama University and Atma Jaya University, led by the moderator, Dr. Yohanes Eko Widodo, S.H., S.Sos., M.M.

One of the participants representing Atma Jaya was Dr. A.B. Susanto (Graduate School of Business Director,Atma Jaya University) with his presentation entitled “Museum Batik of Yogyakarta & Inclusive Business”.

The Museum Batik is located in Yogyakarta and in the past, it was only a museum for display purpose. As time went by, an idea to produce batik appeared. The museum is running an inclusive business by giving training and facilitating nearby people to take part in batik production, in which batik itself is already part of their daily lives.

“This event is expected to bring knowledge. Some people only know the term ‘inclusive business’ but do not know about its details. The effects from inclusive business are actually huge, especially for those who are in need. This event really gives deeper knowledge about inclusive business, especially for students,” said Joane Barlean (Personal Assistant of Dr. A. B. Susanto).
