Biography


Ferdinan Okki Kurniawan is currently the Head of the Master of Applied English Program, Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya. He received his Ph.D. in linguistics from Cornell University, USA, and his M.A. in English linguistics from Eastern Michigan University, USA. Her linguistic research area is interdisciplinary as it combines several branches of linguistics including phonetics, phonology, language documentation/corpus studies, language variation, language contact, and language change.

He has received several grants: Mario Eunadi research travel grant, Audrey Kahin research travel grant, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant, and James T. Siegel write-up grant. In addition, she has also received a SAGE fellowship. In his professional activities and services, he is actively involved as secretary for the Indonesian Linguistic Society (2021-2023), bestary partner for the journals Oceanic Linguistics, NUSA, K@ata, and Linguistik Indonesia, and bestary partner for KIMLI and KOLITA. In the industrial field, he assists several companies engaged in machine intelligence as a linguistic consultant in several artificial intelligence projects. As a contributor to the field of Indonesian linguistics, he also assists in the annual publication of linguistic bibliographies published by Brill.
