Atma Jaya, together with the ECoGREEN
consortium, mentors 10 environmentally conscious MSMEs in preparing
Sustainability Reports!
Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, through the ECoGREEN consortium, is holding a mentoring session for 10 environmentally conscious and globally minded MSMEs. This activity aims to equip small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in preparing Sustainability Reports as a step towards a responsible green industry.
The mentoring session, which began with
opening remarks by Dr. Christina Juliana, CPMA, Asean CPA, CertDA, participants
actively discussed the sustainability challenges and opportunities they face
every day. The topics discussed were diverse, ranging from tourism villages and
the use of drones for environmental monitoring, waste management, natural home
decor, local culinary delights, circular fashion, and product innovations from
plastic waste.
On September 30, 2025, Atma Jaya Catholic
University of Indonesia, in collaboration with the ECoGREEN consortium, held an
online mentoring session for MSMEs via Zoom Meeting. Ten selected MSMEs
committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship participated.
The mentoring session focused on assisting
MSMEs in preparing Sustainability Reports, a crucial step toward strengthening
their competitiveness in the global era. During the session, MSMEs discussed
various green business practices, from developing tourism villages and
utilizing drones for environmental monitoring, waste management, natural home
decor, local culinary delights, circular fashion, and product innovations from
plastic waste.
This session not only provided a technical
understanding of sustainability reporting but also encouraged MSMEs to be more
environmentally conscious, integrate circular economy principles, and
strengthen their eco-friendly business identity. With ongoing mentoring, it is
hoped that MSMEs will be increasingly prepared to become part of a green
business ecosystem that makes a significant contribution to society and the
planet.
Efforts to introduce the concept of sustainability to MSMEs are carried out through various strategic steps, such as providing education and guidance on implementing environmentally friendly business practices, providing support in the form of incentives and access to sustainability-oriented financing, and encouraging the use of more efficient and environmentally friendly technologies. Furthermore, it is crucial to strengthen collaboration with various parties—including the government, the private sector, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs—to create synergy in implementing sustainability principles. Sustainability values ??also need to be integrated into MSMEs' management systems and core business processes to become an integral part of their operational culture.
