One Big Step Towards Green Exports!

Atma Jaya Catholic University, in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Trade and the Erasmus+ ECoGREEN Consortium, successfully held a training and mentoring session titled "Sustainability Business & Reporting for Export-Ready MSMEs" on August 6, 2025.

This event marked the beginning of the journey of 10 innovative Indonesian MSMEs in building sustainable business models and penetrating the global export market. Participants came from eco-friendly sectors such as tourism villages, environmental monitoring drones, waste management, natural home décor, local culinary arts, circular fashion, and products made from plastic waste.

The keynote speaker for this event was Ms. Fajarini Puntodewi, Director General of National Export Development, Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia. Opening remarks were given by Dr. Christina Juliana, CPMA, Asean CPA, CertDA, and Dr. jur. Sih Yuliana Wahyuningtyas, SH, MHum, Head of LPPM UAJ.

The second session, "Sustainability Reporting," was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Natalia Yeti Puspita, SH, MHum (FHUAJ), Dr. Adji Pratikto, and Dr. Almatius Setya Marsudi, SE, Akt, MSi, CA, CSRS, CSRA (FEBUAJ), equipped MSMEs with the skills to prepare sustainability reports as strategic documents to support export market access oriented towards social and environmental responsibility.

This program not only involves students as facilitators but also as visual storytellers documenting the entire mentoring process. Each video is designed to showcase the MSME profile and its sustainability practices, mentoring interactions and direct assistance in the field, the process of preparing the Sustainability Report, and testimonials and reflections from MSMEs and mentors. This documentation is a crucial part of demonstrating the program's tangible impact and inspiring the transformation of other MSMEs toward sustainability and export readiness.

By the end of the program in September 2025, significant outputs will have been produced, including 10 Sustainability Reports ready to be used as supporting documents for MSME exports, 10 inspiring documentary videos documenting the transformation journey of each MSME, and a 45-minute compilation video showcasing the entire mentoring and collaboration process. In addition to actively engaging students in real-world practices of sustainability-based community development, this activity also demonstrates the strong synergy between the government, universities, and MSMEs in building a greener, more inclusive, and globally competitive economic future.
